Dynamx SMART E-PICV
The Giacomini Dynamx SMART E-PICV system is an advanced, data-driven hydronic control solution designed to optimize heating and cooling performance in modern buildings. At its core is a six-port control valve that integrates five essential functions into a single compact device:
1) – Changeover between heating and cooling,
2) – Modulating control,
3) – Pressure independent flow balancing,
4) – Shut-off capability,
5) – Integrated room temperature control.
By combining these traditionally separate components, the system simplifies design, installation, and commissioning while improving overall efficiency and reliability.
The valve operates as a dynamic six-way device capable of managing changeover in four-pipe systems. This makes it suitable for a wide range of terminal units, including fan coils, radiant panels, chilled beams, and manifolds. It’s flexibility allows it to be deployed across diverse applications while maintaining consistent performance. The Dynamx™ concept emphasizes connectivity and data utilization. This enables the system to respond intelligently to both environmental conditions and real-time system data. As a result, the system minimizes energy use by delivering heating or cooling only when and where needed, while continuously maintaining perfect hydronic balance throughout the building
A key feature of the system is its pressure-independent control achieved through electronic measurement and regulation. The Dynamx 6 port SMART E-PICV measures actual flow rates using an ultrasonic flow sensor integrated with the actuator on the valve body. The valve’s internal flow controller receives temperature demand signals from the room and converts them into precise flow setpoints for either heating or cooling operation. The valve then modulates flow accurately to match this demand, remaining unaffected by pressure fluctuations elsewhere in the system.
