ATP / SPC brings the sun indoors to combat Sick Building Syndrome
ATP / S & P Coil Products Ltd (SPC) have united with world renowned Canadian based company Sanuvox Technologies Inc. to launch Ultraviolet air and object purifiers in the Ireland to combat sick building syndrome and tackle indoor air quality in a wide range of applications.
The UK & Ireland launch follows SPC Sanuvox successfully supplying nearly £2m of product to over 75 projects throughout the Middle East since 2010.
Due to an emphasis on highly sealed energy efficient buildings, the quality of indoor air is often compromised giving commercial buildings a myriad of health issues. These can range from the spreading of colds, viruses & bacteria from the recirculation of indoor air, VOC off gassing from carpets and furnishings, to poor quality air and odours being brought in from outside.
When UV is introduced there are endless benefits including a reduction in sick building syndrome and building related illnesses, reduced absenteeism, lower HVAC maintenance costs and improved productivity.
Allan Westbury, CEO of SPC said
“The concept of UV is a simple one; toxins are distributed throughout the HVAC system of a building and once inside they thrive and multiply resulting in poor indoor air quality and sick building syndrome. The sun naturally destroys contaminants and so if the sun could be brought indoors the problem can be dramatically reduced. This is exactly what UV is doing – bringing the UV wavelengths of the sun indoors to destroy biological contaminants and odours and reduce chemical contaminants.
Stuart Engel, Vice President of Sanuvox added
“Sanuvox Technologies Inc is a global leader in Ultraviolet air and object purification. Established in Canada in 1995, we hold a number of international patents and bring products and solutions for virtually any indoor air quality issue to markets around the world.
We began working with SPC a number of years ago on projects throughout the Middle and Far East and have been very successful in doing so. Both parties felt that now was the right time to educate the UK market about the many advantages of using UV technology”.
When considering UV there are 2 different options; either treating the air or treating the object (ie HVAC coil, walls etc) and SPC Sanuvox offer in-duct UV air sterilisation systems, stand alone units and UV coil clean systems to cover both options.
