SPC Shortlisted as Finalists in the BIM Initiative of the Year category for the H&V News Awards 2015

S & P Coils Products Limited (SPC) have been announced as Finalists in the H & V News Awards 2015 in the ‘BIM Initiative of the Year™’ category.

The entry titled ‘How manufacturers ‘Active BIM’ objects can help achieve BIM level 2 compliance’ is based around SPC’s Active BIM approach and how this was applied to the Manchester National Graphene Project.  SPC supplied Coil BIM (Building Information Modelling) objects which were included in the design of the building and eventually ordered by Balfour Beatty Engineering Services.  The Graphene Institute was one of Balfour Beatty Engineering Services and SPC’s first BIM level 2 compliant projects.

The ‘Active BIM’ approach has been developed by SPC to aid customers in compliance with BIM Level 2 which has been mandated by the UK government by 2016.

SPC entered the ‘BIM initiative of the year’ category to promote its ‘Active BIM’ presentation  which demonstrates how linking product selection programs to BIM objects can give specifiers project specific data which automatically inserts into the BIM model using ‘Type Catalogues’.

As well as the financial commitment from SPC to create its BIM content and link this to existing selection software to deliver the Active BIM approach, SPC also choose to present ‘Active BIM’ throughout the UK & Middle East to over 350 industry professionals over the past six months including consultants, contractors and architects.

Warwick Taylor, Managing Director at SPC said  ‘S & P Coil Products Limited are delighted to be shortlisted in the BIM initiative of the year category in the 2015 H&V News Awards. We are dedicated to aiding customers in achieving Government required Level 2 BIM by 2016, and we hope that through the H&V Awards we can promote the importance and use of Active BIM and how it can save both time and resource’.
